UA Local 91

UA Local 91 is not a plumbing contractor: it is the United Association local union for Birmingham's plumbers, steamfitters, and HVAC technicians, and the oldest union in Birmingham, Alabama, going back to 1899. What it runs is training, not service calls: an apprenticeship program with its own training center, where apprentices learn the tools, technology, and skills of the pipe trades and hear from instructors on what a first year looks like. Members also get a benefits office, contractor connections, and organizing support. People researching a plumbing career, not a plumbing repair, are the audience.
